Heather Lister was diagnosed as a child with a bicuspid valve, the most common congenital heart issue.
However, when she turned 40, she didn’t feel right. Despite her community cardiologist telling her all was well and come back in two years, she came to Mayo Clinic for a 2nd opinion.
She was found to have an aortic aneurysm along with a family history of spontaneous dissection. Drs. Carolyn Landolfo (FLA), Naser Ammash (RST) and others, including genetics, worked to devise a personalized plan that ultimately included surgery by Dr. Alberto Pochettino (RST), to reduce her risk before a catastrophic event.
Today, she is back to normal and just watched her oldest son graduate high school.
